So long and thanks for all the fish

So sad that it should come to this…. So for those who haven’t heard, PixelSurgeon had been killed. PixelSurgeon was an online design and culture magazine featuring news, reviews and interviews. I’ve visited PixelSurgeon over the years and while it wasn’t a site which I remembered by heart; most likely because I probably found it while I was busy at school; I do remember that I respected how clean their layout was and their community.

"After seven amazing years, Pixelsurgeon is shutting its doors and closing down. Pixelsurgeon is an enormous time drain and thanks to an expanding family and helping to create new moving image company Wyld Stallyons, I simply cannot devote sufficient time to it. So rather than let it die a slow lingering death, I’m taking it to the canal in a bag of rocks. This has been a tough decision, and one I’ve struggled with over the last couple of months. I’m sure many of you will be as heartbroken as we are. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our contributors past and present for their amazing work, and to you, our audience for stopping by to read our news, reviews and interviews. Keep on truckin’!" - Jason Arber 11-19-2007

Seven years; something about it just makes you stop and go - "wow…" I mean in this day and age; web sites come and go; and as for design portals, now a days they are a dying breed - Remember when design portals were the standard? This makes another design portal to go on the chalk board of design portal’s that are now gone. In a way, I wondered why Jason didn’t just choose someone else to run the portal? - I somewhat can understand that when a person leaves such a project that sometimes the user base feels that it just isn’t the same; I can’t blame Jason for ending it - He did a very important thing not letting it linger. So if there are any design portals that you wish to give respect, feel free to do so.
